How To Make Mondays Less Daunting!

Mondays! If there’s one day most of us don’t look forward to, it’s Mondays!. Signaling the start of another long week, it’s a reminder of the next six days of responsibilities, stress, and even boredom. But as universal as this aversion seems, it’s not entirely true. A study published in the Journal of Positive Psychology shows that we’re equally grouchy on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays! Friday is the exception because – you guessed it – the weekend is just a day away. Yet, why do we dislike Mondays (and Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays)? Simple. Because they contrast with lazy, relaxed weekends when we’re less stressed. Fortunately, there are things we can do to chase away the Monday or weekday blues and start the day with a focused, energized mind. Read on to find out.

5 Ways To Tackle The Monday Blues

Start Your Day With Water

We all know that we need to drink between 8 and 10 glasses of water each day. Since our body is made up of 60 percent water, we have to stay hydrated. There are no two ways about it! However, most of us don’t. Chronic dehydration can lead to many complications like muscle weakness, headaches, and fatigue – things that can make Mondays seem even worse. If you’ve been skipping out on drinking water, start today. You’ll feel more energized, alert, and ready to seize the day.

Do Something You Love

This may be the furthest thing on your mind on a Monday, but doing something you like to do in the morning can make the day less stressful. Whether it’s reading a chapter of a book, taking a short walk, or playing with your dog, make sure you have a little ‘me time,’ even if it’s just for a few minutes.

Avoid Stressful Work In The Morning

It’s not always avoidable, especially when you have 101 things to do and deadlines looming everywhere. But, as much as possible, try to schedule stressful work for later in the day. This includes dealing with conflict. Leave it for later in the day and use mornings for other things like emails, getting an early start on a deadline, and so on.

Maintain A Consistent Sleep Schedule

A consistent sleep schedule means going to bed and waking up at roughly the same time each day. This includes weekends and holidays. You’ll wake up fresher, and Monday won’t seem so daunting. It doesn’t mean that you have to forego your Sunday night plans but try to make a habit of sleeping at the same time you normally do. Sleeping too little and even too much can negatively affect Mondays. Less sleep means you aren’t getting enough rest, while too much sleep can mean that your sleep is interrupted by frequent awakenings.

The Nuvanna mattress is great! It’s very comfortable and not too hard or too soft. I don’t feel my partner moving around at night and it keeps you cool.

Get A Good Night’s Sleep

While the tips we’ve outlined above can help you get through Mondays with a more positive state of mind, they will not work unless you’ve had a good sleep the night before. In fact, poor sleep alone can prevent you from going off the handle for small annoyances and will prevent you from being focused and in a better mood. Of course, it’s not always easy to sleep well. Sleep-related disorders, stress, anxiety, and medical conditions can all contribute to poor sleep. If you suffer from any of these, you need to make the extra effort to encourage sleep. This can include practicing relaxation techniques, exercising, seeking treatment (in case of a medical condition), and avoiding consuming stimulants.

Aside from these, it’s vital to use a good mattress, one that’s designed to promote better sleep. Nuvanna Mattress is one example. Designed by a materials scientist with over 20 years of experience, it features three layers that all work to help you sleep well. The top layer cools the body with the help of innovative phase-changing gel particles that draw out body heat and disperse it. The middle layer isolates motion by preventing it from transferring across the surface. This means you and your partner won’t be disturbed by each other’s movements. The bottom layer supports the body and prevents it from sagging, which can cause back pain and exacerbate existing body aches.

No matter how much you may want to, there’s no escaping Mondays! The only way out is to learn to deal with them by changing your mindset and habits. Not only will they make Mondays better, but you’ll find it a lot easier to tackle other high-stress days too. In the process, you’ll reap all the other physical, mental, and emotional benefits like staying hydrated, indulging in your passion and being more content with life.
